Low Tech, High Reward

the time jumped off the wristwatch.

And the wristwatch sure was sad.

Was flying home Wednesday and didn't record. Busy all Thursday and didn't get stuff done. So we're doing a low tech Method. Enjoy.

I realize you don't come here every week because you enjoy listening to people complain. I get it, I do, because if all I did was just tell you what is wrong with the world, I wouldn't be serving a purpose.

I know this isn't the solution most of us are looking for. But I've been thinking about it, and I think it's the solution we need.

We're all moving into summer now. And we all have friends and family to catch up with. But in the world today, as sad as it may be, catching up is no longer phone calls and hangouts, it's wall posts and messages.

So here's what we're going to do.

Cut out the social fat in your life.

Social Fat (n) -
Anything that hinders you from reaching your full potential as a social human being.

This means different things for different people. For me it means no facebook for a week, and as little internet as possible (I say as little because I know that right after this post I need to mapquest something and I don't think that that hinders me socially). So lets try, for one week, to cut out the social fat. Refuse to sit around. Don't dick around on the internet all day when it is glorious outside (and people, it is glorious out today, so I am typing as fast as I can).

One week. You know that that is generally all the commitment I ever ask of you.

I know you are sitting there thinking, "Matt, what's the point? How is this a solution? How will this change the world?"

Well bottom line, it won't change the world. But it might change your outlook. It might remind you that people are what's important and that the internet is always there, but your friends might not always be. This could foster relationships that will turn into lifelong friends, it could create new bonds, it could spur you on to change your life.

And that's what we're all about here.

Because of said challenge, the Method will be posted next Thursday, but only to get your responses to see how you did and what it did for you.

So please, read this, please comment and tell me what you're cutting out, and then go do it.

Defining The Relationship

Hello Cancer Followers,

It is time to define the relationship. Why you come here and why I do what I do. Up until now, this has been a pretty random process for me. And it has been a pretty random reading for you. I have finally found a purpose for it though. The reason I write and the reason you read is because we are all about bettering our lives, and the world we live in. I am here writing or talking about things that I think need to change, and things that I think we can change. I know this seems like a substandard post after vaguely a month of nothing, but my absence was due to a mixture of sickness, tests, and projects. Remember, I have a life outside of this internet page. I thank you for continuing to read (as I assume you are reading this), and I encourage you to refer your friends. Feel free to leave comments asking me things or telling me things, and I will try my hardest to respond in an awesome and quick manner.

Thank you,
mattD

p.s. I will try to include top 5 lists of random things, so ideas for lists are welcome.
